Cancelled

I'm not sure we could rely on these news but at the same time, TVLINE is pretty accurate and they just posted this yesterday in their "Ask Ausiello":

Question: Camp is my favorite summer show! Any news on if it will be back next summer? —Kristen
Ausiello: I’m afraid I have bad news for you, Kristen. According to my spies at A.C. Nielsen, you are the only person still watching the show. So… no. It won’t be back next summer.

I have little doubt that we'll only going to get this one season, but this is just a comment on the show's ratings more than anything else.

reply

Yep, a second season was highly unlikely from the beginning. I will enjoy the last two episodes before this goes away forever.

reply

Meh. My opinion depends on where they intended to take the show. The fact Sarah and Robbie, or at least Sarah, are still in the show at all is nothing short of forced.

Didn't the other post say it's ratings were good?

Since it's a summer show with a limited number of episodes, do they really even need to decide yet?

reply

Too bad if it goes away. It's a small, appealing show. And the creators obviously watched a lot of 'meatballs'... (and that's a good thing!)
I like shows like this. Modest, not too involving, never goes overboard.
Thanks to all, for a fun summer diversion. This used to be a summer staple. Today, it's WAY too dark series like (once fun) Burn Notice, and most of the other shows that appeared this summer.
Summer used to mean lite, engaging, funny. Now it's bodies mutilated on a bridge, angry cops drowning another cop, and other gore. The comedies quickly folded.

I'd enjoy more camp but wasn't expecting a second season....how well would that really work? Short attention spans don't make for a ton of people having the patience of waiting 9 months for more of a network show. Also what are the odds most that cast would come back? (Okay so maybe that's not an issue but I think they could find other work that wouldn't allow them to return for a show that they probably weren't paid a whole lot to be on to begin with)

This article published on September 5 tells a different story.

I really enjoyed this quiet little show which was one bright show in a summer of bad reality shows and reruns. All the characters were interesting and the story line was involving. Most importantly, Camp had a lot of heart, in an era where most comedy/dramas are written by cynical hipsters with way too much attitude.

reply

Yep, it's DEAD! Camp got the AXE!

Deservedly so, what a steaming pile of crap!
