Inquiry about Lady Silence

When she went into the arctic and cut her tongue out to appease Tuunbaq, why did she come back to the expedition team. Why did she not go and stay with her people. I'm guessing that she wanted to bring the Tuunbaq back to the expedition for revenge purposes? I really don't have any idea.

The show was interesting. I liked the historical aspect of it. It was kinda long in the tooth at times, but I did enjoy it.

I watched the 1st episode of the 2nd season. I think that was a 1-and-done.
