How cool is AMC for picking this up?

They seem to be the best cable channel of the last ten years. This literally begs to be filmed while you read it, and ten episodes should do it justice. Glad AMC is giving it a chance

So badass that this is gonna be a tv show. But by 'anthology' will they do other seasons with other stories involving the monster you think? Cause it said 'anthology' on the report and not 'tv mini series'

Hi thevully5789,

Given the success of The Walking Dead and the limited success of Fear the Walking Dead, AMC wanted to try an anthology similar to American Horror. Hopefully the showrunners will find another novel to adapt if The Terror gets a lot of viewers.

I'm just glad it's actually happening.

They first announced this in 2013. I thought the project was cancelled for the longest time.

Me three. So far, and probably for a while yet, this will be the only movie ever made about the Franklin Expedition. I first became obsessed with the story two years ago back when I read about the discovery of the Erebus. I did read the book and certainly took pleasure in how thoroughly Dan Simmons researched the novel, including the Tuunbaq. At first, I didn't care too much for that subplot as I generally am not a fan of horror/fantasy/monster movies and novels, but after giving the book a second read it grew on me and I really appreciate how subtly Simmons integrates the monster into the overall narrative, partly through his allowing the Tuunbaq to be an allegory for all the other menaces the officers and men face. On the other hand, The Terror is a lot longer than it needs to be and probably should have been cut down by 1/3rd.

But I'm looking forward to this series. I'm sure Ciaran Hinds will make a good Franklin and Jared Harris a good Crozier.

I am also trying to figure out the unifying thread for for the anthology seasons. It could be anything from the author to the genre. Maybe the first installment in a series about adaptations of modern horror novels?
Or maybe just an inaccuracy in the report. From the original casting announcement, one could have been forgiven for thinking that Tobias Menzies was playing Crozier
