My early predictions regarding the pilot/show

First of all, I am super excited about this project, and I cannot wait for fall to see this happen. I will just write a few points below, as to why this is very good news, why it will be successful, and why overall it is a good idea.

1. It is a good decision for Rupert Grint getting in TV. TV has become much more popular lately, that is why big names like Spielberg (Smash) have entered the world of TV. People are watching much more TV, and TV stars are A-listers just like movie stars. It is a good idea because being on tv for over 3/4 of the year gives you popularity, which translates into a possibility for awards, and a great possibility for a bigger movie career. For instance Jason Segel from How I met your mother became very popular on the tv show, and was able to write and do his own movies after that, as he had Carte Blanche by Hollywood to work on his projects. Jennifer Aniston and Mathew Perry, were having a bigger movie career while they were on tv on Friends. Basically in Hollywood you have to be constantly on people's minds to be the first in someone's mind to be casted. It is thus a great decision for RG to boost his career. He's done great films lately, beautiful small projects mostly with brilliant performance, and great flexibility and now it is time for him to show himself in a different light. TV has long working hours and you have to work for over half of the year, but it still leaves you some time to make at least one movie a year, which will giver RG a chance to work both on TV and boost his movie career. It means that he will have to work as much as when he was doing Harry Potter, but he is used to that, and he did have a break of 2-3 years from that kind of very busy scheduling. He's been working, but less hours, so enough with the break. This is his time to make the Hollywood A-list.

2. The creator of this pilot-show is Gregory Thomas Garcia who has done already two critically acclaimed tv shows, that have a big fanbase, that are very adorable, funny, sweet comedies: My Name is Earl, and Raising Hope. For those of you who haven't watched these shows, and like comedies about simple people, you are in for a treat. The storyline given so far seems quite promising, and knowing Gregory Garcia's genius, I can only imagine how good this will be.

3. It is only a pilot, which means so far CBS has only ordered a pilot, and if CBS likes the pilot it will order 6 episodes, and when it airs, if the ratings are good, it may order a whole season or just another additional 6 episodes to see where it is going. Rupert Grint has a huge following, which is made of the now adult Harry Potter fans so I assume the ratings will be good. CBS usually goes for full seasons, so it gives new shows a chance, instead of cancelling them right away from the beginning. CBS comedies are very popular and I would mention from these How I met your mother, 2 Broke Girls, Big Bang Theory, and whether you like them or not, you gotta give it to them for being quite watched. I think it is all because of how CBS advertises, and because CBS never gives up on its shows, messing up with scheduling. Like I said CBS gives usually whole seasons for new shows, and if the show wasn't as good, it doesn't renew them for a second season. For shows that have been going on forever, it still doesn't decide on cancelling them but continues them, relying on their settled fanbase. These are good news, because if the show was scheduled for NBC, or ABC, these are networks that don't advertise their tv shows very well, don't schedule their airtime very well, and also change their schedule or air episodes out of order, making fans pissed off and give up on the networks. CBS is quite different, it actually gives closure on tv shows. On the other hand, the show won't only be on air because of CBS policy, or RG's popularity, but because of Garcia who has great talent and will make a funny and sweet show. Therefore I believe that there won't be just one pilot made, that won't get an airtime, but that it will at least get a whole season of 22 episodes, for those of you who aren't very familiar with US Network TV.

4. And lastly, haven't we all RG fans missed watching him on a regular basis? This will be even better. We will get 20 minutes episodes every week, at least 22 a year, maybe more movies coming out in huge theatrical releases as well. He will be giving interviews to promote the show on all late night or daytime television and many other tv shows. America and the world will fall in love with him in a new light. Being able to play a new character in a regular basis will wash a little bit of the Ron Weasley away, so that he can be viewed in a different light to casting directors. For those who like now and then to read gossip magazines, there will be lots of them making up stories on who he's dating, and stalking him (which to me is not necessarily a good thing, but if you like that sort of thing, why not?)

5. Last. As much as I would love to hear RG play an English in America character because I want to hear his beautiful sexy accent on tv, I kind of doubt that this will happen. From the storyline, it seems like the character is very American. It is not necessarily a bad thing - Rupert has done an Irish accent (Cherrybomb), Liverpool accent (Into the White), and he's doing an American accent in CBGB, I'm not sure for The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, but I assume he'll be doing an American accent there as well - which to summarize, given his talent, I'm sure he will pull it off perfectly. He will thus be able to advertise his ability to pass for an American, which will get him more movie deals as the star of the project.

So overall I think this is the best decision for Rupert's career, and I applaud him and his agent for this decision, and I also think this is a very good thing for us as his fans, to see him in a new light, and to seem him much more often.

Let's hope that it will be as good as my predictions, and talk to you all there, when the show gets made and it is successful.
