Why can't filmmakers get it right?

Its not like its a boring story and they have to change the facts and throw in all kinds of nonsensical crap to make it watchable. Just stick to the facts, use the people who were actually there, and stop making things so weird and out of character. A little physical resemblance would be nice too.
