emile hirsch + holliday grainger = TERRIBLE CAST CHOICES

lordy, these 2 sucked. i saw no chemistry between them, and the acting was just bad

The script was the biggest problem.

Oscar winners couldn't have made it good.

I have the exact opposite impression. I thought the leads had great chemistry, that's the reason why I prefer the first part, because it showed a cute interaction between the two. Emile Hirsch is a high-class actor, who brings charisma and sophistication to every biopic he's in.

I watched it again last night to see if I could enjoy it more after I got over the initial shock of all the inaccuracies and just plain ridiculouness. While I can't say that it was a much better experience overall, I did find myself enjoying Emile more. I think he could have been really outstanding as Clyde had the script been different and closer to reality. There are parts where he shows a bit of a spark and charisma, but he's so overshadowed by the over-the-top nearly cartoony way that Bonnie was portrayed. I'm not sure that I can blame Holliday for it, though. I think it was just very poorly written. I think that had something to do with the lack of chemistry, particularly in part 2, as well. They really didn't approach this as a love story gone horribly wrong- it was a story about the pitfalls of fame more than anything.

Holliday should be nominated for an Emmy as far as I'm concerned. Hirsch and everyone else was fine, but Bonnie was the most interesting character by far, and I loved the way that Holliday played her. By the end of Part Two I found myself wishing that this miniseries had been recut into Bonnie Parker, with Holliday in every scene and told entirely from Bonnie's point of view with her narrating.

I liked her too, especially in the vision that Clyde had of her during his fever that almost killed him as a young boy. She was shown dressed in a beautiful cream-colored gown, walking towards him - looking like an angel and calling his name - which caused him to ask his father at the breakfast table "do you believe in angels?". She even had a shawl draped over her arms to give her "wings". I liked the irony there because even though Holliday Grainger has such a beautiful, cherubic face, as Bonnie Parker she was definitely NOT an angel!

It's interesting. I thought both actors were pretty good and their chemistry was good as well. I honestly did not have any problems at all with those two.

- probably would have nailed it as Bonnie and Clyde.
Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger were horrible in every aspect, as well as majority of the other mis-cast players.

reply

grainger was the best for me, I like hurt as well.

i liked Emile Hirsch in his earlier work particularly "Into the Wild" and "Alpha Dogs" but since then he's picked some really bad movies.. I think being only 5ft tall there's plenty of room in those Hobbit movies that come out every few years...that could be the perfect vehicle to resurrect his career..

Holly Grainger is a stunner however. Lucretia Borgia? Bonnie Parker? Who cares?
