Wagner Moura deserves every possible award for his performance

Absolutely incredible.

Maybe if he sounded remotely as a Colombian, or at least as a Spanish-language native. His accent is way too distracting.

Which of course me, as a non-Spanish speaker, didn't notice in the slightest.

I am from a Spanish-speaking country and I couldn't care less about his accent. His performance was extraordinary, but then again nothing less should be expected from Wagner Moura if you had seen his work in other films.

Imagine for a moment someone made a film about Abe Lincoln with a French guy in the lead, speaking with a heavy French accent (which is more or less what they've done in Narcos). Of course, the guy would stick out like a sore thumb, no matter how good his acting. Do you think it would cross someone's mind to demand awards for him?

In films on Napolean an actor might be speaking English, granted using French inflection, and is that distracting ? In WW II films, I always liked how the actors playing Germans either spoke English with German inflection or were Brits to distinguish them from the Americans. Although I've never seen the role of Lincoln played in French I'm fairly certain it's been done.

Agreed, his portrayal was spot on. The subtitles were hardly necessary so far as I was concerned due to expressive use of both facial and physical gestures. I was totally immersed in the character from day one and sought out his previous endeavors.

Agreed, he's incredible. People need to stop being butthurt about the accent lol
