What was Pablo's main mistake?

1. I think he attracted too much attention by becoming a PM, a celebrity.
2. He threatened the gov't instead of bribing it.
3. He lost the symphathy of the people by mad public bombings. People didn't care when he just targeted gov't officials and political candidates. But blowing up school children??

I'd say his #1 was probably killing Moncado and the other guy at the prison. They were loyal and besides the doubt on them stealing he didn't even think of a more logical plan of getting rid of them and this is what leads to him underestimating his enemies.
#2 was the terrorist attack although he was already on the decline by that point so that expedited his death

Pablo's main mistake was choosing to become a criminal. With his intelligence, he could have made something of himself legally.

Running for congress was the main mistake.

Well he pretty much should have listened to EVERYTHING Gustavo told him

His stupid wife. He was in Panama chilling and his wife wanted to go back to Columbia. He told her if he goes back, there's going to be war, and she said do what ever it takes. Later on, she says we can't live like this, lets go somewhere that we don't have to hide. It's her idea for him to go back to Columbia even if that meant war. She started the whole war. She annoys the *beep* out of me every time she's on screen. I can't stand the actress either, she's the worst one on the show. She is wooden, lease entertaining person on the show.

He sold drugs and killed people. I´d say this is the main mistake.
After that he did other mistakes but, yeah, being a narc would be mistake numbero uno

...but they hung him anyway.
Hanged, Ami. Your father was not a tapestry.

he should have left the country when he had the Chance ..

Let's see...
1 - Becoming famous
2 - Attracting too much popularity (basically the same as #1).
3 - Wanting to become Colombia's President.
4 - Killing people.
5 - Not keeping his not-so-legal business quiet.
6 - Not leaving Colombia or moving somewhere distant of where they could find him.

I know that sometimes it's hard to leave the country you were born in and love so I can see why Pablo (at least this show's version) didn't opt for that.

He pretty much became most famous criminal ever. Only Al Capone is more famous in my opinion. When you become that famous there is pretty much not getting out alive. His only hope was escaping from Colombia and identity change.

I guess if he really tried to he could have find asylum somewhere with his assets.

Some of the worst dictators and mass murderers ended their lives peacefully in foreign countries:

The violence that came with the drug trade would have sunk any kingpin in the long run. Colombia didn't want to turn into a narco-state and Escobar was the prime target. He could have done a better job of managing his relations with the Colombian government.

That still leaves the United States. If the Colombian government proved insufficiently cooperative, it's quite possible that certain dissidents would find themselves with extra money and arms to stage a coup (cf Chile). Or the US might have invaded (cf. Grenada). Any link between drug dealers and communists would have formed a pretext for war.

In the end, Pablo just became too big a target. Even after his empire was ruined and his rivals took over, the propaganda value of catching (or killing) Pablo Escobar was too great for the Colombians or the Americans to resist.

I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.

Don't be ridiculous comparing Colombia with Grenada. Also, Colombia has always been Latin America's strongest democracy and has always had good relations with the US. It was the only Latin American country that fought alongside the US in the Korean War.
