The one dollar bill

They briefly mention the one dollar bill, signed "I am alive. Johnny Gosch." Then no follow up. Did they ever have a handwriting expert examine it or check it for fingerprints?

reply

i think she said they did not follow up on any new clues or information brought to the case. They never interviewed that Paul guy and I don't think they ever looked into the 2 tone Ford car that was seen talking to Johnny and also the neighbor. The west des moines police department were complete idiots and *beep* So much precious time was wasted in the beginning by the police denying there was even a crime committed. No wonder the mom went nutzo with grief and stress. I can't remember where they said the dollar bill was found but I think close to the Omaha Nebraska / Iowa border. which would make sense if he was taken the way that guy Paul said he was and put into child prostitution ring in omaha.

I can't believe how indifferent that police department acted towards that poor family. I know that the 72 hour rule was followed in most places, but the boy's dog and wagon full of newspapers were just abandoned on the street. Obviously not a runaway!

reply

Not indifferent.
There is a reason child sex trafficking exists. And it's not a one sided cycle of buyers, someone has to provide the bodies, money & power buys a lot of children. And also buys a lot of adults to look the other way.

reply

I believe the dog was with the other missing paperboy.

I don't recall what state the dollar bill was found in either, but what I remember is that the woman contacted the parents and said she had gotten it back with her change at a grocery store. She tracked them down and called them (I believe it was a phone call). Dad told her he would trade and give her another dollar if she would send the one with Johnnys name on it.

Among the many things they left out of this "documentary" is that MANY dollar bills were circulating in the 80s with supposed messages from Johnny Gosch on them. It was just people making "practical jokes" about the case since Noreen Gosch kept it in the media for so long. There was never any reliable evidence that any of the notes were really from Johnny Gosch.
