The Irony is that the Israeli Messershmidts prevailed over the Mustangs-

unlike in World War 2. I'm watching the movie now.

Just to clarify, I am ninety-nine percent certain that the combined Arab air forces had zero P-51 Mustangs. They had British equipment that could, in theory include some Mustang I's because some were supplied to the British. However, after World War II, the Arab countries that could afford aircraft purchased Spitfires as primary, front-line fighters.

That does not change the irony, it even adds to it because it is Messerschmidt Bf-109's prevailing over Spitfires. Of course, it was the other way around during the Battle of Britain in 1940.

By the way, at least some of the Me-109'2 featured in the documentary were Spanish built HA-1112. The HA-1112 is a license built Bf-109G with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

The best diplomat I know is a fully charged phaser bank.

Thanx for the Clarification.

The Egyptians flew Spitfires, not Mustangs, and the ME-109's flown by the Israelis were actually licensed built in Czechoslovakia. They did not have the usual ME-109 Dailmer Benz engines, but rather a Czechoslovakian type of substitute.
