In "Prey" there is a young man named Philip Hathaway. Any relation?

I was hoping they would spend more time with the character and it would somehow be linked to James. I think Jame's dad was named Phillip but I can't remember for sure. Any one know definitively if it was meant to be dear old dads?

shareI don't think I'd use an actor's actual age to figure out a character relationship like the one mentioned here. I'd look for other clues to tie them together. It's not uncommon for actors to be years older or younger than the age of the character they're playing.
Obviously, with the Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour series, I think links like this one are expected, fans are looking for them, and the writers won't disappoint. I doubt it's just a coincidence that they used the Hathaway name. It'll be interesting to see if it goes anywhere.
