S3E1 "Ride" Questions

Not sure if the version of S3E1 "Ride" that I watched was edited by American TV ? Seemed to be many plot holes --- I had so many questions afterwards, even after re-watching ! [Although, with Morse'e rapid-fire "explanations" used at the end to tie together the incredibly convoluted (though enjoyable) plot, I suppose it was easy to miss a FEW details, LOL !)

1.)Do we know why Jeannie Hearne got on the Ghost Train ?

2.)What had she argued about with her date at the fair ?

3.)How did she end up unconscious, in a car ?

4.)Where was she being taken ?

5.)Why was she killed ?

6.)Who scratched the biblical verse onto Bixby's blue sports car, and why ?

7.)Whyever would Conrad / Mr. Outis play golf with Bruce Belborough ?

8.)How did Bruce Belborough avoid any prosecution in the death of Jeannie Hearne ?

Thanks in advance !

OK ---

So, no one has replied yet to my query because either:

1.) Everyone is much too kind to write, "Watch the ep again, and ALL of your questions will be answered !"

...or else...

2.) Everyone watched the same edited version I did, and there will be no clear answers for some / several of my questions, until we can get our hands on an unexpurgated copy (or shooting script) !

I wonder if the lack of replies is due to most of us being based in the United Kingdom and having seen the episode some time ago - long enough for a few of us to have half-forgotten what went on!

Thanks Marlburian !

These are unusual shows --- packed so full of delicious detail and labyrinthine plot turns, yet unlike a movie, very little stays with us months afterwards, besides vague plot outlines and a general sense of angst !

I do admit I am jealous of you folks across the Pond --- while the UK was watching the latest 4 installments of Endeavour, we were offered Victoria and Mercy Street instead ---

Victoria has been compelling TV, to be sure, but I would rather have been catching the latest installments of Endeavour (which I won't see perhaps for another 3 - 6 months !), and then catch Victoria later on DVD !

SIGH !

Agreed!

However there was definitely quite a long thread about this, which may still be there and may answer some of the questions.

I would definitely need to watch again to be sure.....

Just wanted to add that it's likely that some of these questions will be quite obvious to UK viewers (well, once we re-watched it),, but because of those cuts to the pbs version may not have been explained properly in the version the OP saw.

1.)Do we know why Jeannie Hearne got on the Ghost Train ?
She just had an argument with her boyfriend, probably about her affair with Bruce. She just wanted to get away from her boyfriend.

2.)What had she argued about with her date at the fair ? See above :)

3.)How did she end up unconscious, in a car ?
Conrad had attacked her during the ride.

4.)Where was she being taken ?
Somewhere close to where Bruce lives so he could set him up for murder.

5.)Why was she killed ?
Conrad wanted to frame Bruce for murder because he knew they were having an affair. Then he would be able to step in and get the girl he's been in love with for a long time, posing as Charlie.

6.)Who scratched the biblical verse onto Bixby's blue sports car, and why ?
Conrad.

7.)Whyever would Conrad / Mr. Outis play golf with Bruce Belborough ?
Conrad was disguised as Charlie.

8.)How did Bruce Belborough avoid any prosecution in the death of Jeannie
Bruce didn't kill her. Conrad did.

Thanks in advance !
