So did cris agree to not being able to win

Kind of sucks for her

reply

No. She was never a contest but a hired actress just like Giles

reply

And like the first girl who died. Imdb *KIND OF * spoiled this season for me bc Cris and Kam were the ONLY contestants with pages. That raised my suspicious (bc I'm a freak and looked for anything and everything to point to the identity of the killer/winner.) Other than that I thought the series was flawless and I'm MORE than looking forward to next year

reply

Yeah, Cris being a aspired model/actress made it easy for the audience to figure it out. Kam was definitely shocked though.

Side note, Cris Crotz (her full name)…Twitter is blowing up. Good I really like her, I hope she can bring springboard this to something much bigger like hosting a game show. I think she be great. And I confess, when she was acting all twisted and evil, I was getting turn on. :)

reply

Wasn't Giles and someone else there in addition to Cris and Kam?

reply

At the unrevealing? I don't think so. Not until the cops showed up.

reply

According to the creator, they asked all the contestants if they wanted to be a killer. Four or five showed interest in being the killer. The producers picked Cris and the creator didn't even find out until episode 5 that it was Cris. Cris also gets money too for playing the killer.

reply

Makes sense. The killer would be guaranteed to be in every ep and tied for being the name associated with the show. So for her it was perfect to get more exposure.

That in of itself should have been a clue.

Cool story, bro.

Serious? She was picked to play a part before the show started. Yikes, come on

reply

Well technically, based off that post, all of them had the chance to be the killer if all were asked pre-show if they wanted to be the killer.

Girl#1: We're dead if we don't do something.
Girl#2: Something's already dead. Your ends.

That makes absolutely no sense. Why would Cris give up a chance to get 250,000? Plus too, she gave clues throughout the entire game she was the killer.

Sorry guy but she was chosen well before the show even started filming. Just like Sheri, she was a paid contestant. Now I do think Cris reactions and sassy/funny lines were authentic because that how she comes off in real life (read her twitter account and Miss Nevada footage) but she knew the outcomes and knew how to come off during murder scenes/throw out tiny hits she was the killer.

It is just like The Mole where one "contestant" is the bad guy and doesn't win.

Exactly but Cris was a paid contestant. She agreed to be the murderer before the show started. That is why she let clues out throughout the show about her experts of firing guns and weapons, her dad being a cop etc. They wouldn't have said okay you played your way to the final four but we want you to be the murderer and give up the chance of winning $250,000. The only way she agree to it is if they pay her a very large sum, most likely nearly half and that be very expensive for a show like this. Be much easier to cast her before the show started as the killer and pay her upfront. My guess her and Gildart Jackson (Giles) got paid around the same amount.

reply

It would have been interesting if the person they chose as the killer was really bad at solving the riddles and might get several scared cards, but never be kicked off, which would raise suspicions.

Cris really rocked the game. Had she not been the killer, she would have made it to the end.

reply

> she knew the outcomes and knew how to come off during murder scenes/throw out tiny hits she was the killer.

The producers have said that the killer is not told any of the details for the murder so that their reactions and discoveries would be genuine.

If you watch this video, Anthony E. Zuiker talks about it.

"Not a snob? You sound like Frasier's brother." "Niles Crane was completely misunderstood."-Suits

reply

I've heard the rumours that:

a) Cris was the only one offered the killer role
b) All players were offered the killer role
c) Four or five players were offered the killer role

Where in the video does Zuiker address this topic?

And is there some other corroborating information, as Zuiker often gets things mixed up.

My belief is that only (a) is true. In my mind, after offering it to Cris, she accepted, and there's no reason to be offering it to other players.

reply

She got 50 K to be the killer, not bad for a month of work.

I wonder how much the contestants get - I feel like Reality Tv shows are really cheap and don't pay the contestants when they have to skip out on their real jobs to film the show.

I think most Reality Tv contestants are wannabe actors, who sign up via Casting Agencies (like for movie extras) - so many of them have some acting aspirations.

reply

The way most of these shows work is by a tiered payment scale. Like on Dancing With the Stars, the longer the pros stay on, the more they get paid. And Survivor, the longer they last, the bigger the payday. If Cris was offered the role of the killer before the show, it was proably more than if she had been the runner up but obviously not the same as the winner. It's a guaranteed good payday vs a possibly good payday.
