Cliche California

What was with the dated depiction of L.A.? The chill therapist, the avocados, the flower child neighbor who sees auras, earthquake fears? Was this episode an hommage to Annie Hall?

reply

The elite upper crust are likely quite often cliche. Especially those that don't have to work for a living and live life as a hobby..

Helen's house looks like it's teetering on the edge of the world, kind of like her emotional and mental state.

reply

Yes her house faces another house that looks like a mudslide waiting to happen. It would scare me too.

I forgot who Joanies father is....is it Coles, but the audience thinks she is Noahs?

reply

lol you have a valid point... seemed dated for sure. I can do without the flower child neighbor but I love Vics mom...She will be a force to reckon with. Plus all that Indian food in the fridge made me sooo hungry for it.

Can you tell me who is Joanies father? I forgot..Is it Noah or Cole?

reply

It’s Cole.

Yes, that Mom is going to be Helen’s nightmare. I will take her advice to warm Naan in the microwave, not the oven.

What happened to poor Vic? He is in the previews so he must be ok. Wonder if his Mom’s food made him ill.

Kind of disappointed that they are making Vic the stereotypical nemesis to Noah - a perfect step-Dad who seamlessly takes over the father role without a misstep.

reply

Vic just fainted, he will be ok lol. Yeah Vic never thrilled me, but they need someone in that role.
As for Cole....I dont recall when he found out the baby was his. Noah is acting like he is the father. I am sure its in season 3 but cant recall. Perhaps because the french woman and the prison guard traumatized me and I have no memory..Can you refresh me on how that whole baby daddy thing went down? Thanks!

reply

I just remember Cole’s brother (the one who died. Scotty) saw the baby and smiled because he saw how much Joanie resembled Cole. Also, wasn’t there some episode about Joanie’s birthday and Cole’s new wife made a better cake, hired a pony? It’s a foggy memory but I just assumed the cat was out of the bag.

Moon circle? Pahleez. This is ridiculous.

New season, more of this cliche with that meditating coven of wine sipping midwives. That birth scene looked like the west coast version of The Handmaiden’s Tale.
