The Robot is Big Dog ... or a model

Interesting story on the robot. They simulated its movements with special effects.
The story is here. http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/24/5340638/bigdog-goes-to-the-movies-sundance-sci-fi-young-ones-boston-dynamics

Excellent article. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering already if they actually got a BigDog version of Boston Dynamics to use for the film and how they would've powered it... funny also how many times they kicked the Shadow in the film, just like they did in the video's of BigDog to see how it would respond. :)

Thanks. I was wondering if they used a real Boston Dynamics robot too. Let's not make a habit of kicking our future robot overlords tho. ;D

I guess using a real Big Dog would have made the experience even worse (the CGI version moves much better). During the movie I wondered if the device would play any important role - after Ernest died I knew what his role would be. That was wasted potential. Ernest's boy seemed to have a very interesting releationship with it, a little bit more sci fi could have helped here.

In the end this is a simple and boring desert revenge drama as many dozens before. Having a pack mule waddle through it doesn't make it sci fi. The waterless situation is not sci fi - it is reality in parts of the US today and in other places of the world since God knows how many centuries.
