Legal question?

Isn't it statutory rape to use underage actors in a suggestive scene. I think ms. fanning is underage and I felt uncomfortable with her during the shower scene with the adult male. While I understand that this is a dystopia and young people engage in sexual relations, I find it unnecessary that they portrayed it on screen. Edit: looked it up and apparently, it's not statutory rape.

Are you insane? Seriously. Shower scene???? WTF? What film did you watch? There was a neck-up shot of her kissing him, is that what you meant? Wow you are F-ed up. And who cares anyway? She is old enough to *beep*.

There was no sex portrayed anywhere in the film, no "sex scene", no sex in the shower. And a pedophile is someone who is attracted to prepubescent children, so it doesn't apply to Elle or her character in the movie. Get your terminology straight, and pay more attention to films if you want to be taken seriously.

Wasn't referring to the movie itself. Was referring to the people making the movie. She was underage when she shot those scenes with her in the shower and kissing that guy. The story could have been about monkeys but if you shoot a scene where a 14 year old actor is posing suggestively to the camera, that's when I think its too much. I would not have had a problem with it if it was an 18 year old actor portraying a 14 year old. But I have digressed too much. What I really wanted to express was the fact that sometimes the creation of art goes to far. Website that exploit underage girls under the guise of modeling when they are clearly sexualizing them. I'm all for great works of art but it should not come at the expense of the exploitation of children. After my original post, I did some research and I found out that children do not have much protection in the media industry and I think it should change. I apologize for my previous ad hominem attack when I called the last poster a pedophile. I was drunk and angry that they missed the point of my post. Hopefully I have clarified my position. I am not against the movie, I am against the fact that they were able to an underage actor to portray what "I perceive" as inappropriate.

I understand where you are coming from, when I saw the trailer for this film all I could really focus on was how uncomfortable those kissing scenes were, and that was when I thought she was 16 when this was filmed, but since learning that she was only 14 at the time I am kinda creeped out by this movie and I just can't wrap my head around how this was actually allowed. I know that it's just a kiss, and reading interviews Elle seems to have enjoyed the experience, but I really don't know what was going through the director's head. Getting a 14 year old to play a 16 who is married and impregnated by a full grown man... WHY!?...

i find extreme tasteless too,a lot of actresses with more than 18 could play that part, she was very wasted in this movie,i keep thinking, damned she is better than this.

They could have at least got someone close to Elle's age, Nicholas Hoult was about 22 at the time, a man that age is somehow allowed to kiss a girl of 14 years because it's acting. It's not like anyone has been harmed or whatever, it's just something I find weird and I don't understand what was going through the mind of the director.
