It's all about Tom Hardy

I was a bit skeptical going in, but in the end, I loved this film. I loved the uniqueness of it but most of all I thought Tom Hardy was phenomenal and he had to be for this film to work. It lived and died on having the right person in that role and Tom Hardy was that guy. I gotta say I never followed him much or thought twice about any of his performances, but he impressed the hell out of me in this one. His facial expressions, gestures, and change in tone were all perfect. He reacted to each person he was speaking to just the way I would expect someone in his predicament to react. Total annoyance and frustration with the baby mama, his ex-boss, and his foreman and complete desperation and regret with his wife and his sons. It broke my heart to hear his sons so gleefully describe the soccer (or futbol) goals as if they were the one thing that mattered while Locke realized he was having this type of conversation with them for the last time, at least for a long time. Very gut-wrenching film about how one mistake can ruin you
