Cant say really... havent seen it in a while. What I remember is when we found out that HE carried the virus and they were after him so he couldnt spread it, I thought it was obvious that they couldnt let any of them live. Right ? Or maybe you meant something else.

He did what he did, and told them lies about the world being infected, to keep them contained on the island and not leave to get help, which would bring the military back to him. The military would kill them and find him and kill him.
He kept them in the house and on the island, because at that point, no one knew he was there. As long as the couple stayed with him and didn't use the radio, he would be safe.
