Series 2

So, series 2 looks good, judging by the first episode but I am soooo disappointed that Chief Inspector Nelson isn't back in it.

I'm really disappointed that most of the original cast are gone.

I can only think that maybe the BBC took so long to decide to commission another series that the actors had committed to other projects. If they'd been quicker off the mark with it we might have had them all still in it, which would have been really good.

There doesn't seem to be any explanation either, apart from the DI who got to say his goodbyes. I really miss the kindly station Sergeant (wasn't he in London's Burning as a boring nerd type of fireman?) but thankfully Fenton is till there - a complex character for a frothy, daytime TV type show. Is he totally bad? Does he have a smidgin of kindness in him? In the type of show where characters can be two-dimensional, goodie or baddie types, it's refreshing to have someone who keeps you slightly off balance.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!

I really liked the way Sgt Fenton's character developed over the last few episodes, and it was wonderful watching Charles De'Ath's performance. He went from scene chewing rage to quiet, subtle reactions (the fear when his wife found the necklace in their bed, and even better the relief when he heard he was wanted back at work...not a word spoken but you knew exactly how he was feeling.)

Fingers crossed for a new series soon.

Honestly, I really didn't notice the cast change that much...

While I would like to see some of the old characters, I still enjoyed the second series very much.
