Comedy?

I've only seen the trailers for this series so far on Sky's UKTV channel, and think it must be a comedy and a fairly far-fetched one at that -- almost to the point of sci-fi. Jennie is shown aiming a hand gun, gripped two-handed, obviously at a villain -- something which is impossible for any British pc to have done in the Fifties; not exactly a common occurrence now. I know people in the media these days think it's their responsibility to make women at least as macho as the most macho man around, but do they have to rewrite history, and so ludicrously, to do it? On the other hand it must be at least an attempt at a comedy because when one (inevitably) dumb male cop asks another if he knows anything about the new wpc he answers she's partial to sausage rolls: the kind of comedy you get from David Jason as DI Frost.
