Series 3 has a new lead character.

From the Birmingham Mail website;

Moseley actress Claudia Jessie is joining WPC 56 – the hit drama set in 1956 about a Birmingham police station’s only female officer. After two series on BBC1, the show is returning with a new lead. Actress Jennie Jacques, who played trailblazer WPC Gina Dawson, is busy filming other projects. So script writers have moved the character on to the Met, leaving fresh-faced Annie Taylor to take up the WPC 56 mantle. And Birmingham actress Claudia is to play the “gutsy and tenacious” role.

Jennie Jacques is busy making Vikings for the History Channel and the ITV comedy The Delivery Man. But returning to WPC 56 will be Charles De’Ath as Sergeant Sidney Fenton, Liam Jeavons as PC Tommy Perkins, James Barriscale as Sgt John Swift and Rachel Leskovac as secretary Susie Nightingale.

Filming is currently taking place in and around Birmingham. The third series is due to be aired in February as five one-hour episodes. Locations include Moseley School, Chateau Impney in Droitwich and the Black Country Living Museum. An old factory unit in the Jewellery Quarter has been turned into Brinford Police Station.

Thank God! That character as written, (Gina) was horrible! I could not believe how stupid they made her look. Talk about buttered bread falling butter side up! I don't know if our local PBS here in Oregon will be showing series 3 or not, but if so, I hope it's a little better.
