The Oaks

It's been mentioned a couple of times in the other threads, but this show and Marchlands both say they're based on this American show which, as far as I can see, only got as far as a pilot, which was not very good, apparently. As an Australian, I have to ask what does this say about the relative values/merits of US versus UK television and its producers/creators? Thought it might be an interesting start for a discussion, anyway!
