I have always enjoyed the offerings of this whole team and looked forward to each gem.

Today I was treated to a most delightful and painful exercise in a story of life. I had no idea what was coming until Sheridan near the end made her revealing statement.

I expect really dark but humorous and well cruel storytelling but this really hurt my throat and gave me over the top painful emotions which should not easily happen in comedy. I can accept pathos but this was more than that.

The story was 'wonderful' and of course Pemberton and Sheersmith give us another masterclass.

I hope that all the guests in the episodes are also grateful to be involved in these delightful [but sometimes painful works].

Keep the great work up but try and not hurt us all so much.

It was a punch to the soul wasn't it? I was in tears, and I still can't stop thinking about it.
Sheridan Smith was wonderful.

Did I misunderstand the "twist" here? I mean, the point was just that she was jumbling up the chronology, right? And the "stranger" was just the man that caused the car crash... No?

Yes - her life passing before her eyes - but with reality increasingly infringing on her dying moments.

That episode tore me up at the end, too. Sheridan Smith is absolutely amazing!

I wonder if you can explain this episode to me please. I enjoyed it and have always loved Inside No 9 but got a bit confused at the end......when did the car crash happen? Did Chrissie really have the child/husband as I was getting confused with the references from the crash vs her real life and also her dad dying but then being there again. Sorry if I've completely missed the obvious but would love someone to explain it to me. Thanks

I thought the episode explained the episode very well.

Maybe you have never heard of or understand the whole "life flashing before my eyes" thing?

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

I've watched the episode again and enjoyed it even more, I totally 'get it' now and it's worth another watch. Thanks for your helpful comment. I have of course heard of the phrase you mention.

There's other movies which have followed a similar theme (people hanging between life and death, and the blurring of the two in their mind), and also the play 'Ghost Stories' which was on in the West End recently was along the same lines. Sheridan Smith is amazing, this was definitely one of the best eps I've seen.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

It's actually the same as the movie Stay staring Ryan Gosling.

I found that episode to be a bit dull, not funny at all, no horror, not even all that entertaining. More like a soap opera or something.

All other episodes have been great, this one seemed a bit naff to me and not to the quality or tone of the others. Where was the dark humour? Witchfinder brought the series back on track!

Do not think that making you 'laugh' was the intent. In your case it worked but maybe for the wrong reason.

I'm sorry, you think the series isn't a comedy and meant to make people laugh? Its listed as a comedy...but I guess the people at IMDB who put it that genre did so for the wrong reasons?

I love League of Gentlemen, the humour is just the same in this show, apart from this one blip of an episode that really did nothing for me.

Tracked this episode down after seeing a letter raving about it in the Radio Times and I'm very glad I did... To be able to generate such a genuinely emotional ending after just 30 minutes of tele is evidence of the talent of all involved... Sheridan Smith's always fab. But, the rest of the cast was excellent too... That claustrophobic flat... The gentle way in which things got more and more disorientating... A beautiful little piece of television.

Loved it, did make me cry at the end, just very sad and I've lost someone close to me so you can't help relating to the "time to go" bit. After seeing it I thought it would've been great if every now and then there was a blue light flashing, like the fireworks going off or at a party, just a hint of the blue light going through the episode, like we got the broken eggs.

With regards Jacobs Ladder as mentioned in other posts, I remember at first being blown away by this in the cinema (especially the strobe light party scene) then when I watched it at home on video, found it thoroughly depressing!
