Best to Worst Episodes

In my opinion this is how it goes...

A Quiet Night In 10/10
Sardines 10/10
Tom and Gerri 9/10
The Understudy 8/10
The Harrowing 8/10
Last Gasp 8/10

I don't remember asking you a goddamn thing!

A Quiet Night In
Sardines
Tom and Gerri
The Harrowing
The Understudy
Last Gasp.

For me Last Gasp and The Understudy were the odd ones out. They felt a little bit too flat against the terrific locations and/or exhilerating plot twists that the others had.

Sardines 10/10*
Tom and Gerri 10/10*
A Quiet Night In 9/10
Last Gasp 7/10 (Seemed a lot like Psychoville. Which is good if you liked Psychoville)
The Understudy 5/10
The Harrowing 2/10

*Both Sardines and Tom and Gerri are well-made homages to the genre and Hitchcock. Conceptually rich, and though not revolutionary original, they work in as much as they are within the universe of the genre without being parody.

reply

The Harrowing 10/10
A Quiet Night In 10/10
Tom and Gerri 9/10
Last Gasp 7/10
The Understudy 4/10

Got to admit I loved the Harrowing because the clifhanger was so messed up

reply

No 'Sardines'?

reply

A Quiet Night In & Tom and Gerri 10/10
Sardines 9/10
Understudy 8/10
Last Gasp & the Harrowing 5.5/10

(The bar was perhaps set a little hight with A Quiet Night In & Tom and Gerri, so Last Gasp & the Harrowing felt like a let down in comparison).

Now, cut out this bashful virgin act!

My rating per episode would be:

The Harrowing - 10/10
Tom and Gerry - 10/10
Sardines - 9/10
A Quiet Night In - 8/10
The Understudy - 7/10
Last Gasp - 6/10

Glad to have read that the show will be back for a second season. Hopefully they will be able to maintain the level of quality of the first season - perhaps even surpass it!

reply

Indeed. I'm also hoping that the 2nd series will be more frightening and the humor even more dark and macabe!

reply

Same here. More episodes in the vein of "The Harrowing" would be amazing (altough it seems to have been a bit too much for some viewers).

reply

Tom and Gerri
The Understudy
Sardines
Last Gasp
A Quiet Night In
The Harrowing (this was bad. hoping for another clever twist, but none)

Sardines - really funny and superb ending
Quiet night in - loved the silent humour, a close run for first place. Really superb piece of comedy
The understudy - really enjoyed the creepiness of this one, very absorbing
Tom and Gerri - for me, quiet a disturbing episode but highly engaging and never quite knew how it was going to end
The harrowing - love the gothic overtones, weird ending was a bit of a let-down
Last Gasp - the only slightly duff episode for me, lost interest in this one and couldn't really stay involved in the story.

Overall I think this series is amazing, a real little gem and such an original concept.

"The 12 Days Of Christine" broadcast last night has now got to be vying for top spot with "A Quiet Night In" - absolutely superb.

01 / Tom & Gerri
Wonderful character development, beautifully crafted. 10/10

02 / A Quiet Night In
More brilliant writing - this time, without a word of dialogue. 9/10

03 / Sardines
A wonderfully scripted episode that features a lovely, downtrodden performance from Katherine Parkinson. 9/10

04 / The Understudy
Anything Shakespeare-related gets the thumbs up from me. 8/10

05 / The Harrowing
Disturbing to say the least. 8/10

06 / Last Gasp
This begins as a truly brilliant concept but as the story develops, the humour packs little punch and the whole things gradually drifts away… just like the balloon. 5/10
