Emelia's eyebrows are like leeches being electrocuted

The writing and acting felt like a cartoon. Whereas in cartoons faces are over-animated to express emotions, with actual people it just felt weird. I started to imagine I was watching a cartoon, almost like a Studio Ghibli film, and then Emilia Clarkes horribly forced performance of the cliched and self-conscious writing became more bearable.

Her eyebrows made me hate her face. I'm not familiar with her so not sure if this is her trademark. I hope not, it's very distracting.

I could not agree more! I loved the book but stopped watching this after about 30 minutes! This performance was GOD AWFUL!! This movie could have been much better if they'd restrained her a bit!

I know it might not be popular opinion, but I personally like her eyebrows - they add to her expressive face. I agree that certain scenes maybe didn't come off exactly as Emilia intended them to, but I thought her ever-moving eyebrows especially suited the character of Lou, and I didn't think they took away from the movie much at all.

Lou is supposed to be a girl content with the simple pleasures: bubbly, quirky, and full of life. Emilia's performance definitely charmed me, but I'm already a fan of hers. I find her positively radiant, and her genuine personality just adds to that. :)

I agree. She has a great ability to be expressive, but I don't doubt the director pushed her into overacting territory. She's proven she can be much better of an actor in other places.

EYEBROWS?? Did you see those gorgeous, firm spectacular legs?

reply

I couldn't even look at her face in some scenes. I know her character is supposed to be exceptionally genuine and kind, and I suppose those exaggerated facial expressions were the only way she could think of to portray it, but really now.

I also wondered why nobody stopped her or told her to tone it down a bit.

I think she is precious. Her expressions were so genuine.

reply

Ughhh yes! She was way too caracture like. It was forced and awkward watching her try to act bubbly..and those facial expressions..wtf

I love the title of this thread - I literally laughed out loud!

And yeah they kind of are!

Joking aside, I don't know whether to find her character disarmingly charming or bloody annoying.
