Yes it went very heavy with the whole(spoiler alert) assisting suicide attempt scenario,but I thought Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin did an amazing job as Lou and Will. You feel Will's pain and you hate to watch him suffer with pain ever since he got knocked down with a motorbike in the beginning of the film.

I bawled my eyes out whenever I watch the ending of this movie.

I thought this film was a bit overrated, I preferred the French film Untouchable which was basically the same but to me far funnier and had much more emotional impact.
