Time Laps vs Primer

which was better?

I say Primer. It may have been confusing but it was more original (aka not as formulaic), more suspensful, more eerie.

"Primer" hands down!
In Primer, the main characters knew what they were dealing with. The scary part was that they couldn't control or even keep track of timelines and paradoxes.

I would have enjoyed "Time lapse" if it had a better script and actors. I liked the basic premise. The characters ruined it for me. They were all idiots with limited knowledge about how the machine works. I was with them when they made the first decision after they discovered the machine. After that, it was a downward spiral of irrational decisions and reckless behavior.

A difficult question.

I'd say Primer probably is a better film, in terms of writing and originality, and also seems more "realistic" - a difficult term to quantify when you are talking about something which is probably impossible, like time travel. But it's let down by poor audio and low budget.

Time Lapse is easier to follow, but the character's decisions are frustrating, and their behaviour is easy to predict.

I've only seen them both once, but I'd re-watch Primer.
