Was there supposed to be some kind of romantic undertones between them? It felt like it was a case of unrequited love in their relationship. It seemed like he reached out to him more than any of the others, especially before he attempted to commit suicide. When he was talking to Siri after their fight, she said something along the lines of they both needed to let him go. Was it just because Ben was the first person he interacted with in college and introduced him to the others? It just seemed like there was another dynamic there.

I got the same vibe - that Alex was in love with Ben. It is not based on anything terribly concrete, maybe just the way Ritter played it.

I was also expecting the secret of Alex's life to be that he had always been in love with Ben.

Yep, I was waiting for the exact same thing to happen. They were definitely hinting that something along those lines was in their history?

Yeah, I don't think Alex liked Ben in a homosexual kind of way, but Ben was Alex's best friend. Do you think that there is any chance of Ben and Siri getting back together cause I liked them as a couple.

I definitely got the impression that Ben was romantically to Alex.

Alex's gf said something along the lines of 'we're both in love with him' and also when Alex is driving away upset, Ben yells out something like 'I love you more than anything in the world'

I never got any vibes that Alex felt the same way towards Ben, but now that they'll be sharing the house ....

I never got the feeling it was sexual at all. Maybe it's a girl thing, I love my best girl friends to death. I have been jealous when my best friends moved their focus to husbands or boyfriends.... It was never a sexual thing.... It was ,"I have been replaced, so I will be supportive"

Men must surely know when the best friend ever gets replaced by the girl. Alex lost his best friend, to another best friend.

my wife said she thought the two of them were harbouring romantic feelings as well. i agree. was an underlying thing

This is what I thought too, but you have the names backwards. Ben was the one with the girlfriend, Alex attempted suicide.

As we saw at the end, it was Ben who brought Alex into "the group"; it was Ben who first offered friendship, then granted Alex friendship with all of the others. Alex feels a kinship that's closer with Ben than the others because of that.
