Now do one for every doctor!

I'd love to see atleast up to Baker

You know what? I was thinking exactly the same thing. A whole program on Troughton, Pertwee and Tom Baker - and then maybe one on Doctors 5,6 and 7. Finally a sixth drama showing the cancellation and McGann's 8th Doctor, moving on to the reboot and then up to present day. This would be a fascinating story to watch. If only...

I love this idea!

reply

I approve. I'd love to see the movie about the criminally under-appreciated Colin Baker's run as the Sixth Doctor. He could be portrayed as an actor set up to fail from the very beginning.

Tom Baker' rise and fall - having to follow the immensely popular Pertwee and succeeding beyond everyone's wildest dream, then falling into hubris and lazy self-indulgence and ultimately discovering, like Hartnell, that nobody is irreplacable - would probably make a decent script in itself.

reply

That would be great. I can just see the scene where Tom Baker gets on the tube/subway after the first episode of Robot went out...and slowly realizes that everyone is staring at him.

reply

That would be wonderful, but it also wouldn't have quite the same impact. That scene at the end between Hartnell and Smith was a testament to the entire Doctor Who legacy. I don't know about everyone else, but it brought me to tears!

I was hoping for a reply from the Americans. A drama about the creation of Star Trek has yet to be made and would be great viewing if made to a similar high standard.

One per Doctor, Two for Tom Baker.
Make John Nathan-Turner being made show runner the cliffhanger.

It would be this big Empire Strikes Back ending when this unknown nobody was given power and grasped it with all his might and never let it go.

Also quick story ideas:

Throughton: Taking over the show and His private life drama.
Pertwee: The Master, Berry Lett, the Death of Roger Delgado.
Baker One: Baker being *beep* insane but brilliant, Sladen and everyone else trying to keep up. Subplot of nobody climbin the ranls
Baker Two: Marriage drama between Tom and Lalla while changes happens.
Davison: The beginning of the end. The drama of the 20th anniversary take the center place.
Colin: Just re-create all the *beep* insaniyt from the behind the scenes going from Coat to the hiatus to the trial to Colin being fired.
McCoy: Suprise Nathan: If you quit Doctor Who dies! You have mere weeks to find a new Doctor and a new EVERYTHING!

I want to see Christopher Eccleston version. What really went down with him and why is it that he never wants to even make a cameo appearance in the 50th anniversary?

Stop moaning you ungrateful bastards!

reply

They should have just called it The Story of William Hartnell: The Doctor Who Years.

Subplot of nobody climbin the ranls

What does this mean?

reply

subplot of Nathan climbing the ranks.

I think a movie about the events leading up to the hiatus of the show and the aftermath until cancellation would make an interesting movie. A hoary sci-fi show, still popular but running on fumes, with the suits wanting it off the air and the producer, who really doesn't want to be there, fighting to keep it alive. You'd also have a similar storyline as far as the actor playing the Doctor. Hartnell doesn't want to leave but it is understandable based on his health vs. Colin Baker who doesn't want to leave but is shown the door.

I don't think there would be enough material for the others. The Tom Baker era might, but it would have to be more a biography of Tom Baker for it to work rather than just his stint as The Doctor. The rise and fall, his marriage to Lalla Ward, and then his return to popularity when, by his own words, he starts getting hired for jobs by the grownup kids who remember him as The Doctor.

Would love any or all of the other doctors to be made, ideally accompanied by a reshowing of at least one serial per doctor. Would like a mixture of the doctors but key staff as well.
