So even though YA dystopian tales are selling like crazy in both book and film, this show wasn't picked up the first time around OR the second time around?
Give this pilot a freakin' miniseries at least!

I thought it was going to be a tv movie? But I agree and they also picked up The Reign which is kind of similar and I don't see why they don't do this instead.
shareI am surprised that The CW would spend two years developing this show and not even give it a test run, on the air, to see if it would work. All that time developing the show seems like a big waste of time now.
Even so, I am not terribly disappointed that The Selection won't become a series. I was much more disappointed last season when they did not pick it up because I thought it was their best pilot in development. This season though it appears like they have a number of good shows coming to their network in 2013-2014, so it isn't as upsetting for me to not have The Selection.
I'm also glad they didn't do it in a way. But not for the same reasons as you though. A part of me doesn't like it when books I love get turned into tv shows or movie trilogies. A part of me is upset that they are doing Delirum. It's partially because of the band wagon fans that start coming along then.

shareIt seems like pilots of great things are getting dropped because the wrong network is trying them. The Selection should be on ABC Family, not the CW and Delirium should be on the CW, not Fox. I want to see these shows, I enjoyed the books. Network execs need to be making more informed decisions. If they got a little familiar with these stories they wouldn't be dropping the pilots for being what they probably should be :-/
