So the main villain was ...

Clarke?

One thing for sure: she was the most annoying character, by far.

And the ending was a bit ... unrealistic ... they ditched transcendence just so their "friend" was not alone? WTF?

reply

To be honest the transcendence was unrealistic and weird but i think their friends staying was a pretty fair choice. I might choose to live out my life with my friend then become one with the hive mind. If you are gonna go might as well do it together and enjoy it.

reply

That's my point: all of them, beside Clarke, could have joined the Hive mind and be together.

Plus: Clarke was far from being a loved character, she treated everyone else like objects, she basically was a traitor to all of them, multiple times, just to justify her selfish needs. Plus she botched the chance of human beings at transcendence.

And even Murphy joined her? He who betrayed ALL of them for a chance at immortality?

Neah.

reply

Yeah, but to be fair Murphy has had the biggest journey and character development. In season 7 we see who Murphy has really become cause he put his multiple times to help others and even some of the other characters pointed out that he really knows there is more than just surviving now. Being with Emori and living out his life with her was his dream and that probably also influenced his choice. Wait I just realized something. How tf is earth alive if Monty directed them to the other cause earth wasn't survivable. They were not even on sanctum long.

reply

The flight to get to sanctum was almost 200years long. Plenty of time.

reply

Ah yes forgot bout that

Just goes to show how the whole concept is ridiculous. We all know deep down that this kind of "transcendence" means to stop being who you are which is an undesirable outcome anyways. So why would anyone want to "transcend"? They would be much happier living life as they were, with their friends. This whole ending was very poorly thought out imo.

reply

Indeed. You get to live forever but at the cost of living. Kinda sucks.

reply

Imo when people imagine the afterlife I think they have an idealized concept of something like the garden of Eden where you're hanging out with your loved ones. Kind of how they end up here, all together by the river. The idea of being an orange blob in a cloud of light is not appealing whatsoever. Maybe this is what real transcendence looks like, and "God" was just tricking them by saying it's not forever so that they wouldn't get bored. 4d chess?
