I love the show but.....

People who spend years of their lives being drug addicts, alcoholics, strippers, criminals, bad parents, etc. don't look, act or speak the way the characters on the show do! Sorry, but USUALLY the people who live those types of lives are not educated and it's obvious when they open their mouths! Just watch any "reality" show or panel show like Maury Povich or Jerry Springer.

The women on the show have these intellectual conversations with witty banter which is great for the show, but doesn't reflect "real life" at all. Roseanne did it right. They looked, dressed, lived and spoke like a typical lower/middle class mid western family. This show, while it is entertaining, the characters don't fit in with what they're supposed to BE. I know, some people once they get off drugs and alcohol do improve their lives, but this is a far stretch.

Yes and No. When people go through these rehab programs they pick up different ideas and concepts.

I did a course in Social Work way back and there was this ex drug addict guy who was talking about his rehab and how they were teaching him circus tricks like juggling. I am not kidding you.

Not to mention people, even poor ones with a lack of access to education can still read books, before and after and during their drug problems.

That said, these characters don't talk about anything all that deep.

Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

FYI, my alcohol and drug group in Cleveland in the mid 80's had an average income over $1M. Does that fit with your stereotyping? I could name a half dozen common medical procedures named after people I met in AA, which of course would violate their anonymity, but the next time you have a "XXXXXXXXX," just think about the possibility that Dr XXXXXXXXXX was a drunk. ;-) . And I have met in person every single "character" in this show at meetings. This show is possibly one of the most accurate on TV.

BTW, people in the program don't watch Springer. Having lived it, we find better things to do with our time. Perhaps only ignorant judgemental people watch it.

Ok, if either of you read my entire comment you'd see I wrote "People who spend years of their lives being drug addicts, alcoholics, strippers, criminals, bad parents, etc."
I was pointing out that they aren't ONLY addicts! I know that addicts come from all walks of life, but not all of them were strippers, criminals, and/or bad parents. When they talk about their pasts (Christie's childhood especially) they speak about Bonnie leaving her places, bringing around other really bad people at times, criminal activities, etc. Doesn't sound like a well educated, down to earth person who just had a substance abuse problem.

So I'm not being 1/2 as "judgemental" of fictitious characters on a sitcom as you are being of me, someone you don't even slightly know! (I'm speaking more to you Sluggr than to the other person who replied since you right away chose to be rude to me.)
I was simply making an observation. If it's any consolation, I feel the same way about shows with characters who are supposed to be smart professionals who act like morons.

Your OP was terribly unclear, if indeed your intent was what you posted in the reply.

You character assassinated 4 million people in America alone with a sweeping ignorant statement, and "I'm" the rude one? Sheesh.

Curious about your thoughts on "Black-ish"

edit: And the response of course is a complaint to IMDB.

14 days to go anyway, BFD.

SOBER 20 YEARS. People are like the people shown on this show. This show also shows how nobody has a perfect life after they get sober. You learn (from this show) once you are sober that is when the work BEGINS. This is "Never said" is just shown
