How the hell did a junkie loser like Baxter....

woo a rich snob like Candace? 

reply

Candace is a classic egomaniac with an inferiority complex. She was emotionally abandoned by her dad (remember Christy telling Candace that she knows why she is such a b1tch), so you can see how she would seek out a man who possibly couldn't leave her without dire consequences to their lifestyle. Baxter is a kept man.

He didn't woo her. Neither is he Mr Right, he just happened to be Mr Right There.

Alright your theory does make a lot of sense but still I will never understand how a homeless dope fiend like Baxter wooed a so-called educated socialite like Candace :/

reply

My guess is that he sold some killer weed to Candace's dad, who gave him a job as a car salesman (often called the last refuge of the alcoholic or otherwise behaviorally disaffected), and that is where Candace met him.

I actually know someone whose brother is a lot like Baxter (addict, spent time in jail, no job, and with two kids by two different women) and he managed to marry an educated, professional woman. I don't claim to understand it, but it happens.

reply

Good lordy, LOL! That certainly happens but it seems more likely where it's the woman that's the screw up and the man is the one with the good job and stable life. My cousin and his wife are like that. She's never worked, was living with her mother on welfare (SSI), didn't drive or have a car and he came from a good family and had a good job. She's now married to him and lives off of his family and partly the government. I think the difference is a lot of men like needy and dependent women like that, but a lot of women don't want a needy and dependent man.

reply

I agree with the women often being the screw up, but a guy will do a lot and put up with a lot for sex, and women know this and use it as a controlling weapon

reply

That's probably true, but the weird thing about my cousin (or maybe it's not so weird) is he wanted her but wanted others to pay for her. His mother buys most of their groceries and the government (state taxpayers) pay the large part of her medical expenses. He's not too ashamed to have his mother and the state pay for things. He's actually a lot like his wife: it's someone else's responsibility, not his.

reply

He didn't woo poop. Candace is the kind of person that likes to fix broken things. Baxter is one
