Sorry
If you check my posting background you'll see that I have no history of trashing well-liked movies. But this one really disappointed me, and I had trouble caring abut any of the characters.
The problem for me was that the film was neither enough fantasy, nor enough realism. It seemed caught in-between, and I couldn't find a way to relate to anything. There was so much that stretched beyond the limit my ability to suspend disbelief, while not allowing me to enter some fantasy world. So, as I wrote above, I was left just not caring.
In addition, the father reminded me of the Ben Stiller parody with his "Simple Jack" character in Tropic Thunder.
I've seen dozens of Korean movies in the past, and have enjoyed most of them. But this one, in spite of its attempts (successful with many other viewers) to make me cry, left me cold.
Don't lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools.
