I give it 10, why? Bcoz I thought this movie is very very good but its so weird when all those smart people absolutely ignore his papa's condition, its so obvious and will not happen but this is the first movie I ever saw that can make me crying a lot even I'm a man. Never crying like hell before! Are you crying too? A lot?
Actually I think police mistreatment and coercion of mentally disabled suspects is a problem in Korea. Just watch "Mother (2009)" to see police again taking advantage of a mentally handicapped man to make him confess to a murder. So this aspect of the movie does not seem unbelievable at all.
Now the parts that are a bit unbelievable is the sneaking in and out of the girl, building the hot air balloon in prison, and the hot air balloon escape scene. But the movie IS a comedy after all, so it's ok to go a bit over-the-top for comedic value. I think most comedies are guilty of this.

Same thing in Memories Of Murder.
I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!! reply share
i gave it a 9 while still crying, and then went back and gave it a perfect 10. reminded me of grave of the fireflies... i couldn't breath through my nose then, and now i cant.
I think "Mother" was a better film, but this was above par in my opinion. The prisoners were a little too goofy, and the hot air balloon subplot was a bit of a stretch for me. The acting by the father and daughter was great.
I made it! Skipping some part though. I like the movie but it's too unrealistic. It's meant to be fun but the part that he seems 'to know' he's going to die soon or death penalty doesn't make sense. Isn't he mentally challenged?
