High school in the US : from party to party ?

I just watched this series over a few days and it seemed that each episode featured a dance party of some sort, we rarely see a normal school day.

I'm French so high school here is quite different, students work all day for example (except on Wednesday), and there aren't many events like that, mardi gras (a work day but students can dress in costumes) and maybe a dance party at the end of the year, but even that is not that common, and during my time in HS there was none, probably because "seniors" have the school to themselves for tests to get their high school diplomas, while younger students are already in vacation.

Did you notice this or have you been in HS in the US and it was like that ?

My High School had at least two dances a month. Even some on Saturdays. There was almost always some kind of party, mainly it was for fund raisers and whatnot.

This is TV version of U.S. high school. Mardi Gras is specific to New Orleans I think. There are a few dances throughout the year, generally, at most high schools(homecoming, Prom and maybe others for a special event - depends on the school). Do not take what you see on American TV as the norm for the country.

Mardi Gras is a holiday in Louisiana.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

Nope. The ENTIRE state of Louisiana celebrates Mardi Gras. Strangely, when I was growing up in Louisiana, assumed the entire world celebrated Mardi Gras (best damn holiday of the year. Yep, even before Christmas, Halloween, and Easter).

Yea, it did seem like there was a party every five seconds..... Sorry to disappoint you but High school in the US. Is NOT like that haha. A cute idea but far from the norm. We had maybe 5 dances/school parties a year at most!
