Why the show got such low ratings

Anyone have ideas? Honestly, it wasn't any worse than any of the other shows on the CW (in my opinion it was often better). For some reason not enough people tuned in to watch it. I always wondered if it was partly because of the title! It's a very cheesy title and people probably assumed it would be stupid and cheesy because of it. I know I did, until I was bored and decided to watch it anyways. It also turned out that the star-crossed romance was the least interesting part of the story.

The CW did a poor job if promoting the show. It also delayed the premiere from the Fall to Spring. To me it looks as if the CW put more into The 100 than Star-Crossed when it came time to pimping their shows. *shrugs* They sort of sabotaged Star-Crossed before they even started airing episodes.

Exactly what I was going to say. The CW did a horrible job of promoting it. They also didn't give it a good shot at succeeding by premiering it mid-season and only giving it 13 episodes. Star-Crossed was doomed to fail the CW didn't care about it.

If people wanted to watch StarCrossed they would've found the show and watched. The CW ran promos during their most popular shows and even sent the cast out to the Divergent premiere to do some promoting(something they didn't do for their other shows)so this show did get some promotion. This isn't the first nor last show to premiere mid-season

While I agree to an extent, I believe a big part of that is the people at CW in control of this actually watched both series (they were either finished or mostly finished at the time) and realised if they had to pick one The 100 was the more bankable horse (especially in the current climate with Hunger Games and numerous similar media).

I disagree about promotion. I remember seen trailers for it during Supernatural and the few times I had to watch the Originals online they also ran trailers for it during breaks.

For me I think it comes down to the fact that it simply wasn't an original concept. They tried the same story for Supernatural: Bloodlines and that one also failed immediately. The whole Romeo and Juliet star-crossed lovers between different species/classes has already been overdone. Short of changing the species there is nothing new you can do with it.

Agree, this show is basically Vampire Diaries with aliens. This show had potential but not sure if the high school path was the route to take.

It would have worked a lot better if the characters had been older and focused less on the whole high school drama and love triangles for sure. Plus X-Men used the whole using slightly different white people for parallels to the civil rights movements and desegregation of schools, etc. long before this show and it just felt awkward at best.

Even the main actress looked like Nina Dobrev from the Vampire Diaries. There is a major difference between the two, Aimee is not as likeable and believable, and Nina is a better actress.

I didn't tune in to watch it because I saw the promo for it and it looked lame.

1. Cheesy, unbelievable story arcs
2. Unbelievable characters that were not worth investing any real time or commitment to.
3. Ridiculous age of actors pretending to be teenagers. Totally unbelievable, distracting, and stupid.

CW did a horrible job promoting this show. The trailer was terrible despite its good premise and it turned many people off watching this show including me. The trailer was extremely cheesy and cliche and looked like it had been made by a 13 year old. I only just started watching it because I was bored, had nothing else to watch and saw it on Netflix. So far the show has been surprisingly good. I really like it. I regret not watching it when it was airing but CW really shot themselves in the foot with their Youtube trailer.

The morons at The CW didn't really promote it all and when they did put the odd advert up it only showed the lovey dovey rubbish that isn't going to appeal to all especially guys. They should have promoted it as a proper sci-fi with an alien race crash landed but were slaughtered by humans and now are trying to integrate ten years later but opposing factions are preventing this, or something like that.
