The show is a curious mix of fantastic effects & ideas with bottom barrel writing/directing. Amazing to me that they would spend so much money and effort on something that is so terrible in obvious ways. The flaws didn't sneak past the producers or the editing room. They are glaring. They had a plan for the plot and they approached it like a child director connecting the dots with cliche and inanities. Watching this was excruciating. I quit soon after the 2nd season started.

Did it seem to you that they purposely used bad directing techniques to have a home-made horror feel? It is so hard for me to grasp how they made something ready for MST3K right out of the box when it had so much promise. The tiniest effort could have saved this show (and some major recasting)

I completely see where you're coming from, and you're not wrong. But I think it all mixed well in the end to maintain a sort of B-horror movie from a past era vibe
