what's witht the feud between the Ancients and the Master?

the series hasn't gone really in-depth about it?

nor do they indicate why the Master's plan for world domination? is he just greedy or insane or what?

reply

Yes the master is insane and greedy and what. The Ancients didn't want to control and rule the world, they were welcome with letting the Humans live as they do. The Master broke from them to grasp power.

reply

But is there a reason he does that now and not 500 years ago?

reply

He didn't have the infrastructure to expand his base and minions. He could have easily been contained and isolated "500" years ago.

In the book, the Master needed the modern world to enact his plan of total domination, which is why he was so intrigued with the Nazi's and their efficiencies of killing lots of people. I won't give away any book spoilers in case they have yet to become show spoilers.

But basically the main disagreement is because the ancients want to stay in the shadows and keep vampirism hidden. The Master on the the hand wants it out in the open with vampires ruling over humans. To be hones, it's pretty much the same argument that takes place in the Blade film between the more regal ancients and the young upstart group led by Deacon Frost.

Thanks for your reply

I definitely was wondering where I had seen such a similar theme before

but does this mean the Master kept in close contact with humans in the past to be aware of what's going on with world issues?

reply

They can't cross water, hence the plane in the first episode.

The Ancients want to coexist with the humans, because they need them as a food source. The Master, on the other hand, wants to subjugate all of mankind by causing nuclear winter, and interning the human survivors in camps. This is what you would call a fundamental difference of opinions.

reply

The books explain, the ancients wanted to do the same thing, but on their time and wanted to ease humanity into it, the master wanted to rule than and now, but needed nuclear power to take out the other 6.
