Right im not one to normally complain about this sorta thing but...

What the hell is up with the chests of pepper and black widow?

Right so now ive got that out the way ill start by saying that im guessing this is taking place in the continuity set up in the movies. Well sort of anyway going by some clues such as the outfits for some characters fitting the movies rather than the comics and some other things throughout so in that black widow should be similar to scarlett johansson and pepper being similar to gwyneth paltrow who if memory serves arent exactly smuggling bouncy castles under their tops so why is black widows zipper about to burst throughout and pepper well the fact that she is introduced with several long closeups of nothing but her gigantic chest.

Now again im not some who constantly complains about this sorta thing this is the first time im even saying it out loud its just i have heard alot recently about anime, manga, comics and gaming wanting to be taken seriously but then things like this happen it doesnt make anyone picture a serious industry it just conjurs the image of a couple of greasy kids drawing pictures while gigling to them selves after saying different words for breasts, honestly im not a huge anime fan and i know that this is definatly not the gold standard, i know there is better out there but i cant help but be a lil bit annoyed when i see this sorta thing wether its anime, in a comic or in a game its bitterly dissapointing can we not just have actual female characters instead of t**s on a stick?

This is not part of the films this is part of the anime series

So are all the women in the anime like this?

I'm late to the party, but yes. Japan has yet to move on from something called 'fan service', which means large breasts and budget assigned to making them bounce whenever possible, lingering shots of still images of bikini clad women, the famous panty shot (be it blatantly upskirt or wind violently blowing at a short skirt), and generally placing the larger chested characters in tops a few sizes too small.

In Japan, it seems at least that, they take the 'sex sells' mantra quite seriously.

Allow me to point out The Dead or Alive Beach Volley Ball game as an example. The entire purpose of that game was to dress characters in tiny bikinis and make them jump. It was essentially sexual merchandise to accompany a successful fighting game that already sexualized it's female characters.
Even stuff that's primarily aimed at children such as pokemon manages to sexualize it's female characters, but to a lesser extent. Look at the breast size of any 'mature' female character. Especially in the Japanese comic books (mangas).

I'm sure that there are plenty of occasions in Japanese entertainment that similar things are done to male characters, but that sort of thing seems to have gone largely unnoticed in the west because videogames and 'grown up' animation have always, until recently, been the hetro-male's domain.

Yes and men are treated similar.
Equal opportunities but people ignore fan service to females because that's ok and not objectification or fan service plus it doesn't travel over here so much.
Double standards.
