The fight scenes for the most part lacked epicness

In the beginning, when the wagon was attacked, the fight scene was more frenetic and the choreography was pretty impressive, so I thought it would set the tone for the rest of the movie but it was downhill from there. Nothing nearly as good as when Yeoh and Zhang fought in the middle of the town, or when they were sword-fighting in the original.

i understand where you're coming from. i don't think anything (in my opinion) can top the tree top/branches fight sequence from the first film but i REALLY liked this new movie. the frozen lake scene was excellent!

I hated John Fusco's screenplay who destroyed the movie, but I think the best part of this movie was the fighting scenes-they are authentic, because almost all the players were actual martial artists, therefore less effects needed, and I agree with the previous comment, the lake scene is epic, i ALSO really enjoyed the final pagoda fight, as well as the fight in darkness between M.Y. and the sorceress-too short scene in my opinion, it could have been epic. The first fighting scene reminded me of the movie WUXIA, with Donnie Yen moves choreographed to perfection, and similar.

The fight scenes were awesome in this movie. Hollywood should take notes

Hpw are the fighting scenes awesome, when they basically just drag people around on strings? Its a nice dance, but it is not a fight.

Well I wasn't comparing CTHG to other franchises, only the sequel to the original. Sure, there are better fight scenes out there than the ones I mentioned but my point was, there was nothing as good as those scenes in the sequel.

I enjoyed the tavern fight scene.

It was too slapstick for my tastes.

The original felt like actual fighting, and they told a story in each fight. Li Mu Bai's style was wise, smart, and was always ahead of his opponents steps.

Jade Fox's style was deceptive and cunning. Knife from shoe, back thrust sword sheath that Li Mu Bai craftfully defended.

Jen Yu- talented, elegant and swift.

Michelle Yeoh's - Knowledgeable and uniformed. Could fight with any weapon.

In this movie, none. Who knows wtf they were doing. Everyone had the same style and it looked like they were performing at a boy band concert with weapons.

This movie was terrible, they shouldnt have made it. I'm not sure if it makes you appreciate the original more or taints both movies.

reply

Taints both movies? Nah, the original is a classic.

The fights in the first movie was like going to the ballet. This one is a mix of Cirque Du Soleil and a metal concert (?)
