If This Was Based On a True Story, I Have a Couple of Questions

1. Has Mamere ever been able to come back to America to see his family?

2. Did Mamere or Theo ever get in any kind of trouble for switching places on the plane back to America?

I'd love to know the answers to those questions too! Especially the second one.

How could they make a film about a real-life crime & no one gets in trouble for it??
Why, if the people truly did this illegal act, would they ever agree to have it revealed ON FILM?!

Much of the movie is fictional but check out the documentary "God Grew Tired of Us" it offers up a great perspective of what the Lost Boys of the Sudan went through.
