The police are stupid!

If you stop and think about it, there's no way the woman's death can't be a crime.

First of all, who would close the ladder/steps to the loft/attic without first checking to see if someone is up there? If I see an open access way to an attic, I'm going to assume that someone is up there and would check before closing it. If an innocent person had found the ladder open, why would they close it without checking to see if anyone was up there?

However the bigger problem is what kind of a landlord would just let a flat sit empty for over two years? As we saw, none of her stuff had been touched, so nobody has been in there since she died. If a tenant just disappeared without notice, wouldn't the landlord go into the flat to check? When they saw that all her stuff was still there, but there was no sign of her, wouldn't the landlord report her missing? Or at the very least, wouldn't they pack up all her stuff and try to rent the flat? None of this happened, so either the landlord is involved or they're so rich that they don't care whether people pay their rent or not.

It just doesn't seem possible that someone can disappear, their flat stays locked and untouched for a couple years and the police don't find anything odd about this.

Even the old detective who's still poking around hasn't thought of this. He's only continuing to investigate because he's bored.

Oh, I don't know....the murderer, for one.

Did you miss the part where these are not rentals but condos that the residents own. She inherited hers from her mother. There is no landlord. And her bills were drafted automatically from some account.

It just doesn't seem possible that someone haphazardly watched a show, missed important details, then get online and looked like a complete idiot for prattling on about a rather subpar television programme. You get a zero for the day.

That was my point.

Yes, you're right, I did miss that part. The show is so slow moving with so many different plots going on that I wasn't really paying close attention to it.

I'd have thought the half-eaten lunch was the obvious giveaway that this wasn't a pre-planned suicide, at least.
