The 'white witch' ?
Given the history of the term "white" in Japan being abused as a racist slur for Western people (the Westerners who came to Japan in the Meiji period were often called "white devils"), I was wondering if this VG might cater to the same primitive, anti-Western instinct that can be found in much post-WWII Japanese popular culture such as "Macross" and "Godzilla". "Macross" is a symbol for the palace of Japanese emperor which needs to be defended from evil Western (long nosed) aggressors, while the enemies of Godzilla also bear many features that are attributed (often falsely) to allegedly "Western" or "White" physiology.
The name "white witch" was most probably not chosen randomly. "White" is a very loaded term in Japan, and the eagerness of the Japanese to combine "white" with evil monsters or negative things is still largely not known in the West.
