Who put the ants in the sugar?

I was thinking it was Rachel but I don't think Tom's wife would have allowed her to go ant hunting.

I think they were there because the house hadn't been used in a long time. Jeanie lied to Rachel about that to lure her to the house so she could keep her there.

Actually, ants don't go after plain sugar. Somehow they know that sugar will dry them out because it has such little moisture in it.

You're dead wrong. They love sugar. It's salt that dries them out because its a natural desiccant. Rip.

Ants go after sweets, but not plain sugar. At least around here. Maybe the ants in my neighborhood are extra-intelligent.
