Season 2 Ending. Were You Happy With It?

In my opinion, I think the way the season ended... that should be the finale of Resurrection.

-The bad guy (Pastor James) was brought down and jailed. I thought it was funny that he was on "suicide" watch XD.

-Thanks to the baby, millions of people returned... and now the whole world knows about returns and the government is working on making things right for the Returned.

-Bellamy seemingly got a promotion (and a more official office) and works to help the Returned get back into society.

-Bellamy and Maggie are finally together.

-It seems like everyone is on good terms (except Margaret), which I am fine with.

Also... what is the point of continuing on? Everyday, mothers die with their babies still inside of them. Are we really supposed to believe that Rachel will be the only returned who still had a unborn baby inside of her when she returned?

I am sure there will be other mothers that will also return with the unborn baby still inside of them, which is why I don't think Nathaniel (the baby) should be treated as a special case.

what are your thoughts? Do you want a season 3? Was this ending for season 2 satisfying as a series closer for you?

I liked the finale, but I still want more stories from the show.

Stupid people do exist and they mainly live on the imdb boards!

The season ended very well. The writers opted for a soft finale in case the show does not get renewed. We don't really know why the Returns come back every few centuries. But, Rachel was the 3rd person to return in season one and she was already pregnant so we can surmise that's what caused the first mass return towards season one finale, and the baby's birth caused the largest return ever.

I want a third season since there's so much more story to tell.

I doubt the writers would've put Maggie & Bellamy together already. I knew it was going to eventually happen (wanted it to), and they were facing a life and death situation, but I still think they would've dragged it out a bit more. So, if we do get a season 3 we'll see what the writers have in store for them. I doubt anything well change - it'll be work & the Returns.

Margaret we'll always find a way to weasel her way back into the fold.

Tom was killed to make room for Preacher James, now that he's locked up.....the door is open for Tom to return. I would also like to see if Elaine's Dad comes back - that would be interesting.

At least they didnt leave you completely up in the air and gave some kind of ending to it. I think by saying it was a year later and life went on that it was a series ending even though they left the door open with the bugs on the windows but I really thought the baby's eyes were going to glow or something. There have been several (but I cant think of one right now) movies that have ended leaving you wondering at the end if that is really the end or not.

I agree with you,Ravan729: I too was anticipating a supernatural visual effect similar to your suggestion of 'glowing eyes' in that nursery scene!
I thought we were about to see all the baby's toys levitating and dancing around the room in a cheesy, obviously on strings kind of effect. I know it wasn't right for this show, but that's just where my brain went when the camera panned across the darkened room.

I am quite sure quite a few people expected the baby to have red glowing eyes, particularly because it was the last one to be seen.

the ep should just be the series finale. it's wrapped up just enough. other than "why are they back" (which i admit is a BIG question) there's really no other major lingering questions or storylines that are worth reopening.

I'm fine with this as a final end to the show and it also felt like a closure.

There was way too much "We try this and if it doesn't work out we just drop this storyline and think of another" in season 2.
Even in the end just bits and pieces were thrown in and skipped again. What was it with Jacob's headache and nose bleeding because of the baby? Then the baby was born and everything was fine and great again? So just an instrument to support the "baby is satan" stuff for a while.
Anyway in the end it ended ok for me and I don't really need another season now.

They should've planned what they want to do and where they want to go better from the beginning.
Season 1 was consistent and great and I was eager to see how they will pick up from there in season 2. But season 2 felt as if every episode was just made up while filmed from a lot of different authors, with no need to pick up much from the episodes before. So they started going there and when you thought "Ah ok, that's the way they're going now" they changed it completely again in the next episode.
I like surprises but these surprises were more of a "WTF? Haven't the writers seen the previous episodes?"

reply

Season 1 was consistent and great
Consistenly boring...
It was already a season of trial and error and dropped storylines. The guy disappearing behind the water cooler? The military invention? The sheriff changing his opinion several times, depending on what the next dramatic tun just needs? That was already heading into no specific direction. The only reason why it might seemed more coherent is the complete lack of anything relevant happening at all.

That is what they overcompensated in season 2. I liked the factory plot, it just dissolved in some unspectacular way. But at leaast it was a mystery they followed for a while.

reply

No I was not. They should have explained why Jacob has a connection to the other returned and the point of the bugs.

reply

...and everyone lived happily ever after.

No suspenseful cliffhanger for next season means this was most likely a lame capstone on the series. The the last 3 minutes of the finale looked like some last minute hack job, as if the writers were informed shortly before that the series was most likely not going to be renewed. Unfortunate, considering season 2 was a lot better than season 1.

reply

It looks to me like a hurried up way to end the whole series overall. Kinda like there's no Season 3 coming. Really! If they knew there was a Season 3 they would have put those scenes just before Maggie Langston released Marty at the beginning of Season 3 Episode 1. They would have added stuff that would have added tension like earthquakes, lightning, during the last few scenes when the Preacher was about to talk to Rachel.

reply

I liked it because it ended in a way where it could come back or not but it was still satisfying. However, Season 2 did go downhill fast with all the loopholes and dropping of characters and plots. The writers probably knew this would be it so they quickly rushed through the season to create a reasonable ending.
