Absolutely love her. Love that character.

The Preacher kept asking her how to make the Returned disappear. I'm wondering if she told him offscreen or if he still doesn't know. And why did she tell him where Rachel was? I thought she wanted to help Rachel, not feed her to the wolves! In a previous episode they showed up in eachother's dreams and Margaret said her baby would be special.

reply

Well, I actually despise her......the way she manipulated the boy, her son and pushed that woman to disappear........however, I did like her being the one and only person to stand up to that evil gestapo woman and her henchmen that were holding them all captive. I can't stand Margaret or that woman back in the city (I forget the character's name off the top of my head). I used to dislike the policeman......but he's redeemed himself and is now a good guy.

I liked the character when we first saw her, then she came sketchy, than she redeemed herself, and now it seems like she is "evil" again....

I have a different take on her. It doesn't seem like she became evil again to me. It seems like that idea is coming from the fact that she told the preacher where Rachel was hiding. But remember, she didn't want to tell the preacher, all she wanted to do was escape and go home.

But when she met up with Jacob, Jacob was saying that his head was hurting because of Rachel's baby. That's what made Margaret think that maybe there was something bad about Rachel and her baby, just like the preacher had implied. I think that is the only reason why Margaret told the preacher – not to be devious, but for the sake of her grandson. It's the complete opposite of an evil deed.

Yea I'm thinking Margaret has a plan up her sleeve.... :)

Now to add insult to injury she's flip flopping between being good and evil.
But, that's just it---she's not. Her reason for telling the preacher about Jacob was not out of evil, but out of concern over the pain of her grandson.

I think the problem sometimes is not with the show or characters, but with the way they are misunderstood so often.

Did you forget about the bodies buried under the factory? And how she made Barbara disappear?

Shopa, It's The Returned by Jason Mott.

I agree, she is ruining the show! I am only on episode 6 but about to give up on it.

Robby, I will let you know when I see a dog pile get up and begin to speak. That will most likely be my next trip to the Capital. Have a lovely day.

That's right, maybe she didn't want Jacob to be in any pain. We still don't know if she told him about how to make them disappear, though.

MyMovie, illimatic and Shopa, I think her character is more compex than we can even begin to imagine. Her job was to make the Returned from decades past dispappear. Anyone who gets into this "Momma-Bear's" way will be a target. I just ordered the book from Amazon and started to read it, just in case the series is cancelled by ABC. I guess we'll just have to sit back and wait to see what happens in the series.

That's a good idea. What is the title and author of the book?

A strong, powerful woman who likes and respects you is an excellent thing. That's why I like her - except when she mistakenly said she hates her sons. But all mothers get a bailout once or twice after raising kids.

How in the world could you like a lying piece of crap?

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, (I'm only now catching season 2 and am on ep 9), but it seems to me that Margaret is supposed to be evil from the very beginning, and here's why:

The dream she shared with Rachael, which was a memory for her, began with her as a child playfully skipping around the factory. It was clear then that it was Margaret who watched the men burn to death. She also mentioned that her father became very important to the company and that's how she ended up marrying into the Langston family, but admitted she never loved her husband.

Well, it's pretty clear to me that it was Margaret as a child who started the fire and killed all those men in order to get her father promoted, then once he was an indispensable part of the company she manipulated the situation to get married into the family all with the hopes of eventually running everything.

She's definitely manipulative enough to have thought it all out ahead of time, even from a young age.

Has anyone else thought about this? Maybe it got revealed in the finale, but I haven't seen any "I knew it!" threads posted.

I'm so ugly...that's ok 'cause so are you.

reply

Yes, that's what I thought, too. I'm not sure but I think she even turns the key in the door of the factory so that the men couldn't get out.

She told preacher James how to make the returned disappear. He tries to make Rachael disappear shortly before giving birth to the baby.

reply

Well, I loved to hate her. I could never get over her telling her 2 sons that she hated them.
