A fan who went to the panel shared the video with me on Twitter. She deleted it about a day later though, citing not wanting to receive grief from Fox. Interestingly enough, I posted how no one re-shared the video anywhere online. The internet loves a leak. Fans love nothing more than getting their hands on something they’re not supposed to have and yet the video wasn’t posted anywhere else online at all. That to me was just more proof how little anyone cares about this show. Having said that, anyone who didn’t see it didn’t miss anything.
It was nothing special. Nothing special at all. As a matter of fact, it was just as many of us knew it would be: generic. It’s a procedural and they’ve hired the usual gang of people to fill the positions.
The tech guy is all geeked out to meet Ichabod in person. A total nerd. He worships the ground Ichabod walks on. Takes a selfie with him.
There is a girl the tech guy works with in the new Archives. She’s going to be a real snooze I can tell. In the clip she seemed the most generic of them all. The type who’s super quiet and seems scared to speak up for fear of possibly being laughed at.
The Archives, which the panel bragged about so highly, was nothing special. It’s bigger, has an upstairs and walk around balcony, but hardly anything worth writing home about.
The Archives were once a special place for Ichabod and Abbie- especially in the first season. It was their intimate hideout. In season 4 it’s a library that’s gonna be full of people. It’s lost its mystique if you ask me.
Diana. Again, nothing special. From what little was shown, she appears to be very unbelieving and that alone I found annoying. We’ve been there and done that with Abbie and Irving in season one. Returning to that in season four is some straight up BS. She even loses her partner, which again is Abbie and Corbin in season one.
Janina is a fine actress I am sure, as is the rest of the new cast, but no. The clip was one long WHO CARES and I actually went in with an open mind. Even the surprise return of Henry was a snooze.
New York and San Francisco Comic Con events are huge and yet you heard next to nothing about the Sleepy panel and interviews are hard to come by. Fans and the media alike are done. They were done last year and are super done now. You best believe if Sleepy looked even half way interesting everyone would’ve been talking about it. Instead, the best most sites could come up with to talk about was the return of John Noble. I think that says a lot.
