It was advertised as a limited run series. Which seems to be a new term being used by the networks to mean if the ratings are good, it will get another season. If not, it ends after the last episode and the networks can say we never meant for it to go any longer anyway.

Anyhow, the ratings were in the toilet and yes, it's over.

I had always thought it was planned to be like American Horror Story, with each season covering a completely different story. While it's all a part of the same show, each season would technically be mini-series.
