Why is Michael Brandon no longer narrating Thomas?

Just wondering if anyone knows why Michael Brandon is no longer narrating Thomas and Friends? Was it his choice or the studio's? If it was his choice, that's one thing, but if it wasn't, then it's really a shame, as he has always done such a wonderful job...
